Annual Meeting for Directors of Postgraduate Education and Postgraduate Tutors 2020
The event was chaired by the Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, Professor Graham Virgo. The programme included student contributions and opportunities for both small-group discussions and questions in plenary.
During the first half of the meeting we discussed priorities for postgraduate education in the upcoming academic year, and heard about some new initiatives in the Stem Cell Institute and Faculty of Education intended to improve the support for supervisors and to enhance the educational experience for postgraduate students.
In the second half we heard from the Postgraduate President of the Cambridge Student Union, Aastha Dahal, and current student Hamish Symington, Student Rep for the BBSRC Doctoral Training Programme, on students' experiences and concerns as postgraduates. Finally, Dr Christian Gilliam from Researcher Development spoke about new ways students can access development opportunities this year.
