MyEducation@Cambridge

The theme for this student photography competition is 'MyEducation@Cambridge'. Every student has their own unique perspective of education at Cambridge. What do you see when you rush to a lecture or seminar, get ready for a supervision, prepare an essay at the library, or study with your friends? What is your personal educational experience at Cambridge - and how might you represent that visually to others?

Winner Selection & Prizes

Entrants will be shortlisted by a panel of independent judges to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements (see the Guide) and align with the competition's theme of education of Cambridge.

The entries will be displayed or screened at the Cambridge Teaching Forum, 22 March 2019. Attendees of the Forum - which will include teaching staff and students from across the University - will vote on the entries based on originality, interpretation and visual impact.

Winners will be notified within the following week and asked their preference of gift voucher from Heffers, Waterstones or Ryman Stationery.

First prize: £75 voucher
Second prize: £50 voucher
Third prize: £25 voucher

Eligibility

Submissions are welcome from any student currently enrolled in the University of Cambridge, whether undergraduate or postgraduate, full-time or part-time. The photograph must have been made by the student submitting it. Photographs may be taken with a camera, mobile phone or tablet.

While we welcome innovative and creative interpretations of the educational experience at Cambridge, submissions must not be offensive, or disrespectful of any beliefs or cultures. Additionally, all identifiable participants in the submitted images must have given permission to be photographed, and signed consent forms included with the application. Please see the Guide for more detail.

How to Apply

Applicants may enter a maximum of 3 photos. It is in your best interest to submit your images as high-resolution files without excessive compression. The preferred file format for images is .png, though .jpg, .bmp and .tif will also be accepted.

Please name the files with the format "[surname] [title]", making sure the titles match those given in the application form.

Photographs being entered, along with an application form and consent forms (if relevant), should be emailed to Ruth.Laing@admin.cam.ac.uk by Friday 15 March 2019.
