Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning

The University offers several sources of funding for staff who are interested in pursuing new initiatives to impact on teaching and learning. The CCTL is always looking for more ways to support staff initiatives and develop funding sources.

Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund

The Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TLIF) has been developed specifically to provide start-up funding for projects that focus on innovative approaches to enhancing education within and across the Cambridge teaching and learning context. Projects may be bespoke for a particular course or collaborative across institutions, and some projects could have a greater relevance to the wider University. Awards are made yearly, in a bidding round that runs from December to March.

Technology-Enabled Learning Pilot

The University launched a pilot programme of support for Technology-Enabled Learning (TELP) last year, which seeks to support individual local projects to develop new digital content in teaching programmes, and to explore the potential for making that content available to new learner groups. Applications are closed for the pilot project. To find out more about TELP, please see the Education Quality and Policy Office's page on the Learning and Teaching Strategy.

Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Scheme

The Erasmus+ programme, administered by the International Student Team, offers funding opportunities for staff going abroad to a European partner institution for a period of teaching or training. Not only does the scheme allow staff to enhance their teaching experience and expertise, it also offers valuable opportunities for researchers to develop their connections with international colleagues.

Widening Participation Project Fund

As part of its Access and Participation commitment, the University provides approximately £250,000 every year for initiatives linked to increasing participation in higher education from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups though the Widening Participation Project Fund (WPPF). The fund is administered by the Cambridge Admissions Office (CAO) on behalf of the Outreach Steering Group (OSG). For details of how to apply and more information, please contact Laura Gillies (DepartmentLiaison@admin.cam.ac.uk). You may also find it interesting to view currently ongoing WP initiatives on the University's Widening Participation pages.
