Prof. Phillip Dawson

We are delighted to be welcoming Professor Phillip Dawson to two events exploring assessment being held on the same day. Phill is the Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning at Deakin University, Australia. In the morning he will be hosting a practical workshop on designing assessment, and in the afternoon will be speaking at the Diversifying Assessment Forum on latest approaches to AI and assessment.

Designing Assessment Workshop

Assessment is one of the most powerful influencers of student learning and student behaviour. Decades of research suggest ways that assessment 'should' be done, but on-the-ground practice tends to be different. Why is everyday practice so difficult to change?

This practical workshop introduces the Assessment Design Decisions Framework, the product of a project that explored the gritty realities of assessment and connected them to rigorous assessment evidence and expertise. Participants will apply the framework to a new or existing assessment design from your own teaching.

A full programme is now available. The forum will be chaired by Prof. Bhaskar Vira, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education. Prof. Phillip Dawson will be speaking on the latest approaches to AI and assessment.
