Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning

The CCTL contributes to the professional development of staff who teach and support the learning of Cambridge students, and encourages innovation and the sharing and reflection on practice.

What do we do?

We offer a portfolio of short courses on aspects of teaching and academic service, as well as accredited educational development programmes at a range of levels for Cambridge staff who teach Cambridge students. We also organise network meetings for academics with responsibility for directing undergraduate and postgraduate education, as well as the collegiate University’s annual teaching conference. The CCTL co-ordinates the University’s Pilkington Prize Scheme for Teaching Excellence and oversees the allocation of an annual Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (~£200,000).

We undertake research in areas which can contribute to the development of educational practice, and as we develop we aim to work with faculties, departments and colleges to identify areas for enhancement. The CCTL also provides a strategic focus for educational enhancement, engaging with relevant higher education research in order to improve practice and influence the development of policy, within the collegiate University and beyond.
