Applications are now open for the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education running over the 2025-26 academic year.

During this 12-month course you will develop enquiry-based approaches to engaging with educational challenges and contributions to improvements in the education of students at Cambridge and at tertiary level more broadly.

The course is open to any Cambridge teaching staff with a minimum of three years' experience teaching in higher education - current participants include senior lecturers, librarians, teaching officers and more.

It is a Master's-level course equivalent to 60 credits at FHEQ Level 7, and is accredited by Advance HE at Descriptor 2 (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; FHEA).

Recent participants said:

'The course isn't about rules on how to teach – it's about gaining tools to help you critically to assess teaching, learning and assessment.'

'The peer group is one of the most important parts of the course. It greatly widened my appreciation for different viewpoints and the challenges of teaching in different contexts.'

'The overall structure is highly effective as a way of learning. The formative feedback, the tutorials, the pre-reading and work books, the self-reflection have been tremendously helpful and very different from ways I have been taught previously.'

The deadline for applications is Friday 16 May 2025. Interviews will be held mid-June. More information on the outcomes and requirements expected for the course are available at the application portal on the Institute of Continuing Education website.
