Tom Tyler

Highly Commended, Peer Support

Tom has worked tirelessly to promote the wellbeing of the members of Homerton College Boat Club. All the Lower Boats Captains have been fantastic this year, but I am nominating Tom as he has ensured that the Homerton values of inclusivity are at the heart of everything that the boat club does. He has ensured that all rowers feel welcomed and supported during their time at the club.

Tom has made changes to our current systems to ensure that all rowers are able to progress, and he celebrates the achievements of every single member of the club. Tom’s erg reporting system ensures that everyone feels they are a valued member, and beginners are not putt off from joining even if they have low fitness levels. Our rowers have told us that we have been a lifeline to them this year and provided a space for them to meet like-minded, kind and positive people.

This is such a positive movement for the club and the changes Tom has made will impact the rowing experience of Homerton College Boat Club members for many years to come.

In 2020-21, Tom was a second-year Undergraduate reading Engineering at Homerton College.
