Access and Outreach

This group have been awarded the Inclusive Practice (Access and Outreach) award collectively for their initiative and work setting up and running the innovative 'Untold Histories' Museum Tours.

Ananya Mishra, Danika Parikh and Akshyeta Suryanarayan set up 'Untold Histories Museum Tours', running tours for the public at weekends at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, telling stories that the labels don't. They were ahead of the game in opening up and decolonising museum collections in this way. The tours have been very successful, and continue this summer.

These students have shown great leadership skills in initiating, running and promoting these tours, greatly enriching the museum experience of those students, staff and members of the public who have attended them.

Ananya Mishra is a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of English. Danika Parikh and Akshyeta Suryanarayan are both PhD Candidates at the Department of Archaeology.
